Event: Arizona Cocktail Weekend 2022
Featuring pop-up versions of more than 40 of the world’s best bars, and a literal circus of a cocktail party, the 10th anniversary Arizona Cocktail Weekend (AZCW) rides into town this February 19 – 21, 2022. The state’s longest-running cocktail event returns for its tenth year and is bigger, better and back in its normal President’s Day Weekend dates, after hosting a scaled back AZ Cocktail Weekend Aperitif Event in fall 2021. Highlighted by three main events (The Cocktail Carnival, Top Bars and The Last Slinger Standing), the 2022 AZCW will also feature exclusive tastings, expert-led seminars and can’t miss cocktail events at bars across downtown Phoenix. Kicking things off on Saturday, February 19, The Cocktail Carnival returns to the Walter Where? House for a wildly whimsical circus-like affair that is guaranteed to amaze and astound. Housed inside this revitalized former 1940s paper factory, the Cocktail Carnival blends together an innovative, immersive light and sound display, art show, and circus performers from Walter Productions with Arizona’s most creative cocktails from the biggest and brightest sprit brands in the world. Soundtrack for the evening provided by Christian Martin (Chicago) and Lubelski (Los Angeles).
AZCW 2022 will also see the return of Top Bars on Sunday, February 20. Why trek to London, Paris, or Amsterdam when the world’s best bars all come to downtown Phoenix for this annual tasting event showcasing pop-up versions of the best cocktail lounges from around the state, country and across the globe, all in one location. Held at historic warehouse turned hip event venue, The Croft, the 2022 lineup will include iconic establishments: Death & Co. (LA), Esotico (Miami), Flying Dutchman (Amsterdam), Homeboy (London), Katana Kitten (NYC) Little Red Door (Paris), Pacific Cocktail Haven (SF), Silver Lyan (DC), 3 Dots & A Dash (Chicago), Trick Dog (SF) and our own Little Rituals and UnderTow, to name just a few.
President’s Day (Monday, February 21) marks the return of AZCW’s longest-running event, the Last Slinger Standing bartending competition. This bracketed matchup of the state’s top mixologists continues until there is only one Slinger Standing. Hosted by Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC), the competition is being held for the first time at The Churchill, just off Roosevelt in downtown Phoenix. Come cheer on notable Valley bartenders like Michael Lopez (Clever Koi), Christina McMahon (The Little Woody), Lauren Azevedo (Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour), Taylor Jamison (Little Rituals) and more.
Lastly, top lounges, bars and restaurants across downtown Phoenix and up and down Phoenix’s Light Rail will be hosting AZCW events, dinners and exclusive cocktail tastings.
