new restaurant: Gooder Goods

Late last year gooder goods, a cute little coffee shop serving up mostly vegan eats opened inside the Madison Improvement Center.

The powerhouse team of Nate Lowrie, Jaqlyn Collier, Joe Meyers and Harmony Fulton aims to bring great food and coffee mixed with a playful vibe. The team includes an experienced chef (Meyers), a new mom (Collier), a CEO (Lowrie) and a yoga instructor (Fulton).

The idea to start a healthy lifestyle coffee shop started when Meyers was asked to open a cafe inside the Madison Improvement Club. After a brainstorm session about establishing a common mission, purpose and passions the group decided to open the cafe together.

gooder goods offers not only great coffee and excellent food you can feel good about eating but also a fun vibe evident in everything from the comfy décor to the cheeky little bunny, affectionately called “Honey Bunny” in the logo.

“We’re here to serve the greater good in the world, but “greater good” felt a little too serious and “playful” is one of our company values,” said Fulton. “We got out an urban thesaurus, typed in “greater” and “gooder” came up! it was an instant YES!”

Fulton says the bunny came from a logo contest and they thought it was a great animal to represent a plant-based cafe with a warm, friendly community.

Meyers has been a chef in Phoenix since 1999 and has worked at many well-known and loved eateries such as Tarbell’s, LGO, Gallo Blanco, Flower Child and most recently Otro Cafe. His vast experience and love for good food has allowed him to put together a simple, yet fantastic menu.

Meyers had recently read Michel Greger’s book “How Not to Die” and was inspired to add (and keep adding) plant-based menu items that provide optimal nutrition and benefits for the body. Popular menu items include Joe’s Avocado Toast, Fo' Rizo Burrito, Rice Wrapper Rolls, Buffer Bars and the delicious drip coffee and specialty lattes.

“We want to do more than serve awesome coffee and food,” said Fulton. “We want to positively inspire people to make lifestyle choices that lead to greater levels of physical, emotional, spiritual and mental wellness.”

gooder goods is located at 3802 E. Indian School Road, inside the Madison Improvement Center. For more information visit www.getgoodergoods.com.
