This December Charm Thai Cuisine is celebrating seven years of serving up some of the best Thai food in Chandler, if not the entire Valley. Husband and wife team of Eddy and Lucky Chakkaw threw open their doors and began welcoming customers on December 5, 2013 and in that time they are gained a very loyal following.
And it's no wonder why, serving as the restaurant's executive chef, Lucky strives to provide quality food using the freshest ingredients to make authentic family recipes with minor tweaks she's made throughout the years.
“My passion for cooking and culinary skills come from my mother,” she said. “Before opening the restaurants, I home cooked Thai meals for my family. I’m always learning and experimenting with new techniques and recipes.”
The family is doing Thai food right and also own Thai Basil in Tempe. They want to introduce the deliciousness of Thai food to more people. “We really want to raise awareness of Thai cuisine, since I believe many people still have never tried it,” Lucky said.
Charm's most popular dish is Pad Thai but other favorites include Som Tum (papaya salad), Larb (Thai lettuce wraps) and Massaman Short Rib Curry. Lucky enjoys owning the restaurants because she says they give her the chance to explore her passion for cooking. “Charm gives me a creative outlet to play with techniques, recipes, and plating presentations,” she said.
Charm is a team of nine employees that are more like family than co-workers, and they consider their customers extended family! “It’s a joy to see familiar faces as well as new friends walk in the door everyday,” said Lucky. “That's why I love owning Charm so much.
