Restaurant Opening: Fate Brewing Company

Fate Brewing Company, the Scottsdale-born brewery known for its cult following, will open its third Valley location in Tempe on Wednesday, May 15. Located in a former longstanding office complex at 201 E. Southern Ave., the midcentury modern structure has been completely renovated to accommodate Fate’s first brewpub outside of Scottsdale.

“The area south of Arizona State University’s Tempe campus is hungry for something new, and Fate Brewing Company is just the right concept to bring life to that area of town,” said Steve Ellefson, partner and general manager at Fate Brewing Company. “We are excited to get to know our new neighbors and grow with the Tempe community.”

The 6,000 square-foot brewpub will feature an indoor/outdoor wrap-around bar, an additional 2,500 square-foot beer garden, and a large, dog-friendly patio where diners can relax around two fire pits and play lawn games. The High Gravity Room can accommodate private buyouts for groups 50+ with a designated balcony bar.

To celebrate its Tempe debut, Fate will host its grand opening party on Wednesday, May 29. Fate enthusiasts attending the opening will enjoy live music, food and drink specials and raffle prizes benefitting Tempe Community Action Agency.

A menu of Fate classics will be served up for lunch and dinner, including smashed burgers, crispy crust pizzas and favorites like the Twist of Fate Pretzel, Legendary French Dip, Street Tacos and Drunken Chicken. Brunch will be served on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes the Breakfast Bowl, Chilaquiles, The French Revolution French Toast and Wake+Bake Pizza.

Last month, Fate Brewing Company announced its return to its original name after reverting to the name McFate Brewing Company since 2016. To celebrate the return to its original name and new location, Fate’s head brewer Adam Schmeichel will re-release old favorite Fate American Pale Ale, which will be on tap at all three Valley locations. Additional beers on tap at opening will include variants of Shot in the Arm, alongside a collection of other Fate staples. The brewpub will also offer a broad menu of wine and cocktails.

Fate Brewing Company will be hiring 60 new employees, including front and back-of-house staff. Those interested can email a resume to info@fatebrewing.com or drop by the Tempe location at 201 E. Southern Ave.
