The Valley's original island-style hideaway, Hula's Modern Tiki in Phoenix is looking to hire front-of-house staff, including bartenders, bar-backs, and servers, after moving into an all-new space on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Now housed inside a stylishly revamped mid-century modern building on 7th Street just north of Camelback (5114 N. 7th St., 602-265-8454), potential employees are invited to apply in person or email their resume to Hula's manager, Kat Callisen (katcallisen1@gmail.com). Hula's also has a second location in downtown Scottsdale (7213 E. 1st Ave.).
Open daily for lunch and dinner, plus weekday happy hour and weekend brunch, the all-new Hula's features a sweeping indoor-outdoor patio and a 40-person private dining 'The Tiki Room' (pictured below). Handcrafted by Hula's owner, M. Dana Mule, this custom-designed space replaced the original Hula's Modern Tiki in Phoenix, which launched in 2009 and is scheduled to be torn down by the landowners as part of an upcoming residential redevelopment.
Plus the new Hula's in Phoenix features an adjacent craft cocktail tiki bar named the Captain's Cabin (open Wed. through Sat., 6 pm to close) and serving up Hula's "Uku Nui" Cocktail Menu brimming with craft cocktails and rare rum flights. Already offered at Hula's in Scottsdale (bar area only), the "Uku Nui" menu (which means "premium" in Hawaiian) showcases six gourmet tiki tipples, all hand-shaken with fresh squeezed juices and housemade bitters and syrups, such as the spicy Pele's Punch and the classic Duke's Daiquiri, for $11 each.
The Captain's Cabin is an adjacent craft cocktail bar, open Wednesday through Saturday, 6 pm to close.
