Heading up to Sedona for the holidays is always a good idea but when you have the opportunity to see the red rocks transform into a massive holiday light show, you shouldn't miss out on the opportunity!
This past weekend from Dec. 14-17th, Sedona had the largest natural 3D projection, the Sedona Northern Lights. One of the best places to view the show was at the gorgeous Kimpton Amara Resort and Spa. We had a front row spot to the show, which we were able to watch from the courtyard, where we roasted s'mores and also from our room balcony. I love that the resort has plenty of seating and cozy blankets to keep you warm, as well as games to keep you busy.
The show was breathtaking. Watching the dark sky and the red rocks light up and turn into a holiday story was like nothing I have ever seen before. They have a holiday station that you can tune into, in order to have music help tell the story. I would definitely suggest checking this out, if they come back again next year. It's an experience you won't soon forget and the perfect chance to enjoy a quick vacation with your family or friends.
During our stay we were able to eat at SaltRock Southwest Kitchen, where we enjoyed soft shell crab, osso buco that fell off the bone and a delectable s'more sundae that hit the spot and warmed us up. I personally love the decor in the restaurant and the atmosphere, the wait staff is exceptional, as are the rest of the staff in the hotel and the food is excellent. Whether you stay at the hotel or not when you visit Sedona, you should give the restaurant a try. They're open for lunch and dinner as well.
For me, Amara is not only a beautiful property but the location is perfect. The resort is settled along the creek and close to the red rocks but within walking distance to so many great shops, local eateries and plenty of hiking spots.
