Largest 3D mapping show in the U.S. using a natural canvas

There are few things more spectacular than Sedona’s majestic red rock formations and for four nights this December these rocks will transform into a natural canvas for a massive holiday light show during Sedona Northern Lights. One of the best views of the show will be at Kimpton Amara Resort and Spa and the resort’s signature restaurant, SaltRock Southwest Kitchen, that will play host to “front-row” room stays, dinner reservations and festivities within the courtyard overlooking Camelhead Rock and the much-loved Snoopy Rock. From Dec. 14 - 17, Sedona Northern Lights will be the country’s largest natural 3D projection mapping show as 3D art will be projected onto Camelhead Rock four times per night. Produced by LA-based PaintScaping, the large-scale art show will virtually transform the natural landscape. With the show in perfect view, Amara and SaltRock guests can enjoy a variety of experiences during the four-day event, including:

  • A resort stay with room rates from $299 per night. Book at AmaraResort.com.

  • A three-course tasting menu at SaltRock by new Executive Chef Logan Stephenson ($55 per person). Reservations highly recommended (928-340-8803).

  • Courtyard festivities including playing cornhole and other games on the lawn; snuggling up under a cozy blanket in one of the many cheery, yellow Adirondack chairs; roasting marshmallows over the outdoor fireplaces with the resort’s S’mores kit; and enjoying libations at the outdoor bar that will serve wine, beer, hot chocolate and spiced cider.

Sedona Northern Lights will also be visible from all of Uptown Sedona and Gallery Row, with five- to six-minute art projections taking place at 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:00pm and 9:00pm every night from December 14-17. Sedona’s breathtaking scenery, considered one of Earth’s greatest treasures, will come to life during this once-in-a-lifetime event.

The event kicks off the 60th Anniversary of the Sedona Arts Center and showcase Sedona’s profound beauty, thriving arts scene, dark skies and enchanting landscapes. Presented by the City of Sedona, the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau and the Sedona Arts Center, Sedona Northern Lights will bring together light, art and nature to create a festive and awe-inspiring family-friendly experience. Amara’s intimate, boutique resort nestled along Oak Creek combines modern design with Arizona’s comfortable, laid-back lifestyle all within walking distance of Sedona’s uptown district.
