The Refuge Café to Open Second Location


Performance Management Consulting is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Refuge Cafe, a local coffee shop and wine bar. They will be opening a second location inside Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Monday, July 31, 2017, in Terminal 4 at gate B9. City of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, Vice Mayor Laura Pastor, and Councilman Michael Nowakowski will join staff from Catholic Charities, The Refuge Café and Performance Management Consulting Services at an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 31. Media is invited to attend and needs to RSVP by Wed., July 26 to ensure names and security clearance can be made in advance.

“The Refuge Cafe is an absolute gem in our Melrose District, combining great coffee, food and wine with a community mission that empowers and lifts up our refugee community,” said Mayor Greg Stanton. “Adding a location at Sky Harbor will show travelers from around the world who we are in Phoenix -- a warm, welcoming and supportive community with opportunities for everyone.”

The Refuge Coffee l Food l Wine at Sky Harbor will serve gourmet coffee, made to order outstanding breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, as well as beer and wine. The airport location will open at 4:30 a.m. daily and travelers can expect a breakfast menu that ranges from freshly made muffins to The Refuge Breakfast Burrito filled with bacon, eggs, cheese, and avocado. Tasty sandwiches and salads for approximately $8-$10.

Steve Capobres, managing partner of The Refuge Café says, "We're very excited about the opportunity to partner with the City of Phoenix and Performance Management Consulting Services to bring our local coffee shop and cafe to Phoenix Sky Harbor. We're a social enterprise of Catholic Charities Community Services and the community has embraced our mission in the City of Phoenix since its inception. Being in the airport will expand our reach and educate more people about our programs and services that benefit the homeless, veterans and foster care."

Coffee drinks will be served all day, everything from lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, cold brews, chai lattes and specialty drinks such as blended Frappuccino’s, ranging from $2.29 to 5. Fresh fruit smoothies will be made with 100 percent crushed fruit will be available for $3-5. Gluten-free items will also be available daily.

The Refuge’s private label coffee, a proprietary blend from Central and South America that uses only the finest quality Arabica beans. The beans are locally roasted, packaged and distributed. Each time you purchase The Refuge Coffee you help homeless veterans get back on their feet. In fact, they are involved in helping fulfill your order.

The bar will be complete with Michelada’s (Bloody Mary’s and beer), a nice selection of local and seasonal beers, IPA’s and a variety of red and white wines.
