Arizona has resorts a plenty, many of them AAA Arizona Four and Five star resorts, which makes these terribly hot summers a little more manageable. Sure it’s still hot outside but for me, there something about being in around a bunch of people, in a gorgeous setting, at the pool, in a cool hotel room or eating at a nice resort restaurant or just sitting in the lobby with my family or doing some work on the computer, that makes the heat a little less unbearable. It’s no secret that I have two small children, well one small and one a little bit less small. So the resorts I like to chose are going to be geared more towards kid friendly. I hope to give you some tips, if you have kids, as to where you might have the best time.
The Westin Kierland welcomed us with a comfortable and clean room facing their pond and vast golf course. When we went down to the lobby they had it setup with a dessert bar on Saturday evening and the sweet treats looked divine but I had to resist since we were heading to Deseo for an early dinner. Kellan (Kman) who is 5, was headed to their kids club for a PJ party. That meant the hubs and I could enjoy dinner with the baby in tow.
My favorite things at the Westin:
The Flowrider! My 5yr old son had a blast doing this, you get to participate for an hour and it’s fun for the adults too.
Put your kids in the kids club during the weekend. Again, my son got to make a ton of crafts, had dinner, did s’mores by the fire and played and we got to enjoy a dinner in peace
In this heat, book a cabana. You get to break from the sun and they supply frozen grapes and chips and salsa, it’s worth it.
Make your reservation at Deseo, speaking of which, let’s head into what we had for dinner.
Order breakfast in bed because I think that’s a must no matter where you go!
Chef Derek Biazo had a tasting menu ready for us so that we could sample their new summer dishes. The dishes that we started with were light and had vibrant and cool flavors, perfect for this blistering heat. Visually, every dish was pleasing and popping with color, we could tell that he took his time to make sure that each detail was perfect before serving the dish.
The millionaire tacos are probably quite popular as an appetizer and we can tell why {lobster, ahi tuna, japanese Hamachi, yuca taco} A flavorful and satisfying bite!
Talk about a show stopper visually but also for the tastebuds, the chocolate cigar is a must no matter what {chocolate espuma / cappuccino gelato}.
Enough about food, you look like you could use a staycation. Yes, this was a fun one for kids and I’m all about family friendly but they also had a pool just for adults and they are a top spot for golfing. If you’re a kid at heart, they have the lazy river and the water slide at the pool too.
