Jollibee is taking the nation by storm and opened up their first location in Arizona, down in Chandler.
You might be wondering what Jollibee even is. Well, it's a Filipino multinational chain of fast food restaurants. The menu is full of Filipino flavors but my favorites would have to be the Chickenjoy and the mango peach pie. You'll also find Jolly Spaghetti, which is unique spaghetti topped with Jollibee’s signature sweet-style sauce, loaded with chunky slices of savory ham, ground meat, and hotdog. Or maybe you'd like to try their palabok fiesta, a traditional Filipino noodle dish covered in garlic sauce, crushed pork rind, shrimp, and egg. They also have yumburgers and a breakfast menu I'd like to go back and try.
I went down to Jollibee's for the opening day and got there at 6am, to see what all the excitement was about. The line to get in was insane, so many people been out there for hours, one had been there for a few nights. The lines haven't died down yet and I hear that it's not letting up.
What's the big deal anyway? Well, from talking to a lot of Jollibee's fans, this is very exciting for them to have in their town. A lot of people grew up eating Jollibees and it's super nostalgic for them. All the people that were there on the first day were buying bags of food to bring home, ordering almost every item off the menu. They told me that not only were they happy to have a piece of home in their town but they were excited to see how successful this restaurant had become and they were proud of it.
So if you're interested in seeing what the hype is all about, head on down to the location in Chandler: 2800 E Germann Rd, Chandler, AZ 85286. Be prepared to wait a little bit and don't forget to order the mango peach pies!
