Two Restaurants Coming this Summer to SkySong
Two restaurants will soon call SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, home later this summer with the opening of New York Bagels ‘N Bialys and Bitters, a craft cocktail bar and restaurant. Both are newly announced tenants at the recently completed $5 million, multiple-restaurant development by Wetta Ventures, which is now 50 percent leased. An additional 6,000 square feet still remains for one or two additional tenants. In September, New York Bagels ‘N Bialys will open a 3,213 square-foot restaurant serving daily breakfast and lunch. This will be the third Valley location for the iconic restaurant and bakery. Favorites include challah French toast, cheese blintzes, house-made corn beef and pastrami sandwiches, potato pancake pileup, benedicts and homemade desserts. A full bar will offer mimosas, Bloody Marys, margaritas and cocktails. Bitters, a craft cocktail bar and restaurant, will open a 2,693 square-foot intimate space in August featuring handcrafted cocktails with a focus on fresh ingredients; a well-curated, small-plate seasonal menu and an extensive wine and beer offering. This is the first culinary venture for Valley native, entrepreneur and cocktail enthusiast, Erika Rode. Joining Erika as the Executive Chef is Ehren Litzenberger, formerly of BLD in Chandler. “Our vision for SkySong and South Scottsdale’s food and beverage amenity is in full bloom and we’re excited to welcome these new restaurants,” said David Wetta, founder of Wetta Ventures. “With the South Scottsdale and McDowell corridor in transition right now, the neighborhood is a significant one to watch for new development. We’re honored to be part of the changing landscape.” Prominently located at the northeast corner of Scottsdale Road and SkySong Boulevard, the 12,000 square-foot restaurant development can accommodate up to four tenants. A 3,000 square-foot garden, now being installed, serves as the centerpiece that will be curated and harvested for restaurants. Sharon Harper, President & CEO of Plaza Companies, the master developer of the project, said the new restaurants are a great addition to the project. “The restaurant building itself is a stunning structure that is very much in character with the overall design and focus on innovation at SkySong,” Harper said. “It is great to see two new, very unique restaurants move into this beautiful new building and become part of the SkySong family.” Modern in design, the building blends indoor and outdoor space with expansive operable glass and lush landscaping. A 45-foot cantilevered overhang, clad in translucent panel material, provides ample shade to the massive outdoor area, which will be home to a combination of restaurant dining patios, the garden and public open space. The development is a partnership between Wetta Ventures and the SkySong development team, which includes the Arizona State University Foundation, Plaza Companies and Holualoa Companies. SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, is home to a global business community that links technology, entrepreneurship, innovation and education to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders of the knowledge economy.
